Today, I canceled class because of my attendance to IMF annual meeting in Tokyo. So today, I write about brief information on meeting.
IMF's 2012 meeting now holds in Tokyo, and there are three meeting halls; TIF (Tokyo International Forum locates in Yurakucho, near Ginza), Imperial Hotel and Hotel Okura. I attended three meetings, and two of them are held in Hotel Okura. I met several foreingn persons, for example, from Malaysia, Angola. There were many African people, including South- Sudan's man. The reason why I can recognized his nationality was that he fasten lapel pin which figures South-Sudan's national flag. Unfortunately I can't talk with him, but I certainly feel African power and Africa's potential in the economic perspective.
Seminars also very interesting for me, but because of using lots of terms in economics I can't understand sometimes mainly in the seminar about sovereign risk and euro crisis issue. Youth dialogue was also held at the meeting, and the topic of that seminar was the role of Asian nations and IMF in the global economy. Panelists' nationality is Japan, Korea, China, and Thailand, so that was very interesting and stimulating conversation. I met some students who are now studying economics or international affairs, and was surprised by their high level English. I have to study English more and more.
I'll attend that meeting 12th and 13th, too.
